CCS brings together students from across the world who have a shared interest in cultural exploration and current social issues. CCS is comprised of students studying in a multitude of fields, from communications studies to engineering, music, and biology. CCSers love to engage with the community through frequent trips to Chicago with faculty fellows, weekly volunteering opportunities at places like Connections for the Homeless and Jumpstart Reads, and firesides about issues ranging from Harlem Renaissance photographer James Van Der Zee to the story behind Chinese New Year. The tight-knit, quirky community has produced many traditions like a Secret Box, a service auction, and Secret Satan, in which CCSers trade clothing for Halloween.
